Samsung announces of Gear VR consumer edition

South Korean electronics manufacturing giant Samsung has announced that it has opened the pre-orders of the its virtual reality headset Gear VR. The US$99 headset will begin shipping from November 20, 2015.
The device has been developed along with Facebook-owned Oculus VR for whom Oculus Rift Samsung is providing displays. The new Gear VR is the new Innovator Editions introduced from December 2014. The recent device has a 19% lighter shell, new foam cushioning for increased comfort, enhanced touchpad are the new features for the Innovator Editions.
Samsung has partnered with 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Twitch and Vimeo for the VR device. The firm has promised plenty of new games for the VR device. Samsung’s own website, Amazon and Best Buy have been named as the official outlets where the device will be available.
The store locations of Best Buy will be the physical retail partner. T-Mobile will be offering the Gear from November 27, 2015 in stores as well as online. AT&T was also named as one of the retailers but no specifications have been revealed so far. The new consumer edition has been designed to be used with the Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
