Casio has been specializing in wrist watches across the globe and had also launched the world’s first wrist watch with the GPS sensor. The company is now all set to enter the wearable devices market. Casio will be launching its first smartwatch in 2016 and has promised that the device would look good and will be comfortable to wear.
The new CEO of Casio, Kazuhiro Kashio assured that the upcoming smartwatches will be affordable and practical. Kashio added, We are trying to bring our smartwatch to a level of watch perfection: a device that won&’t break easily, is simple to put on and feels good.”
The new device will be priced at $400, which is the same that Apple charges for its entry level Apple Watch. Casio has said that the device will enter the market by March 2016 and will be first launched at Casio’s home market, Japan along with the US. The new device will be targeted for men for outdoor sports as well as leisure.
Casio has not provided more details on the upcoming product. Kashio has not revealed on what platform the device will be running. Meanwhile the company has not been new to wristwatches as half of the company’s revenue comes from its watch operations.
