The ticket in question was posted by the driver Cecelia Abadie of Temecula in California on her Google+ account and wrote the caption, “A cop just stopped me and gave me a ticket for wearing Google Glass while driving!” The post by Abadie received more than 500 comments.

The driver also said that she was cited in San Diego for ‘driving with monitor visible to driver’. On the other hand, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed to the press that the citation was gives because of the violation of California Vehicle code 27602. The code mentions that a person cannot drive a motor vehicle if a TV receiver, a video monitor, or any video screen is visible to the driver or is operating when the driver can see it.

Jake Sanchez, the CHP spokesperson explained that officers are not particularly looking out for Google Glass, but anything which can distract drivers. In response, Abadie said that the device was being used while she was behind the wheel.
