In the month of October, 2012, US tech giant Apple announced an update to its popular iMac desktop computer line. However on November 27, 2012, the company confirmed that the 21.5-inch version of the new device will be launched on November 30, 2012.

Apple has termed the device as being the most advanced desktop tjhe company has ever made. The senior vice president of Apple for worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said that the new generation of iMacs can instantly make the previous generation look old.

The new iMac looks similar to the older version from the front, but from the side it can be clearly differentiated as it has gone through a major change. The edge is just 5 millimeters thick and has the slightest bulge in the middle of the computer’s back. That bulge is negligible as it possibly has electrical components housed there, but it still has 40 percent less internal volume than the older versions and weighs about eight pounds less.

Apple is offering its new iMac in two versions 21.5 inches and 27 inches; which begin at $1,300 and $1,800 respectively. The new desktops have 75 percent less reflection than the earlier versions and a Fusion Drive option. However, the 27-inch counterpart will not be shipped until December.
