Mobile operators in the UK, namely EE, O2, 3 and Vodafone, on October 18, 2012, announced the creation of the Digital Mobile Spectrum organization. The development is a recent step towards 4G services in UK.
The new organization will be responsible for solving issues which occur on Freeview TV services due to 4G deployments. There are possibilities of issues such as the interference of the 800 Mhz spectrum range with digital services, which are in the 700 Mhz range. This indicates that many homes could lose their TV services, unless specialist aerials or filters are fitted, which might cost between £10 and £150 each. Overall, the requirements are expected to cost £180m .
