BBC iPlayer launches mobile downloads for tablets and smartphones

BBC has on September 4, 2102 announced the launch of the update iPlayer apps. This has brought the mobile download functionality to Apple’s iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices running on iOS 5.1 greater with an Android OS update shipping sometime in near future.

The new mobile download feature allow the user to provide with the ability to store any BBC programmes which are currently available on the iPlayer and make them available for offline viewing when a reliable internet connection is not an option. This is for the first time iPlayer has provided offline viewing for the mobile devices. Traditionally the service has been a streaming-only experience.
