Online shopping giant Amazon has issued an urgent recall for the power adaptors of its Fire tablet in UK and Ireland that are sold since September 2015. The company has also recalled the power adaptors of the Fire Kids Edition due to concerns that the charging devices can cause electric shocks.
Amazon has contacted its users through email and has asked its customers to immediately stop using the FABK7B adapters and use another charger to charge the devices. The company has also recommended to use USB cable attached to a PC while they wait for a replacement.
Amazon will be offering a free replacement for the faulty adaptors online. The users will also have an option for having a £12 credit note on their account. The online shopping site explained, “We have determined that, in rare cases, when the power adapter included with the UK Fire 7-inch and UK Fire Kids Edition 7-inch tablet is pulled from the wall socket, the adapter assembly may detach and create a risk of electrical shock”.
Amazon also informed that the power adaptors of the Fire HDX and Fire HD models that are sold outside UK are not affected by the problem and should be in safe working order.
