Starbucks customers will soon be able to pay their for their hot cup with just a tap of their iPhone or Apple iWatch. The facility will be available in about 7,500 stores by 2016. Apple Pay will be starting in some of the selected locations in the next few months.

Not just Starbucks, the payment facility is also expected to be introduced for KFC. So the customers of KFC will also be able to pay for their bucket of chicken with Apple Pay. The announcement was made by Apple Pay Vice President Jennifer Bailey at the Re/code’s Code/Mobile conference on October 8, 2015. Bailey said, “KFC has a special place in my heart—it was my first job ever” and that Apple is “seeing a lot of support for quick-service restaurants with a need for fast payment.”
In terms of Starbucks it is not clear if the customers will be able to earn points on their purchases if they pay Apple Pay instead of the Starbucks card to pay for coffee. The vice president denied to comment on more details of the service but assured that such points will be cleared before the official roll out.
Starbucks is expected to improve sales with the help of the new support announced by Apple Pay.
