Samsung launches new app for Olympic guests on Samsung Galaxy S III

South Korean giant Samsung has partnered with new Holiday Inn at Stratford City to offer a full spectrum hospitality solution time for the 2012 London Olympics which has already begun. This is for the first time a suite of hotels has been offered through smartphone outside Asia.

Samsung while working with Fingi Inc, has developed a customisable Android App which acts like a key card and in-room control. The app is capable of manipulating the TV, lighting as well as air conditioning on the top of giving access to the accommodation of the Olympic guests.

Moreover, the app can even handle check-in/out and access hotel service like room service and laundry requests. The unique software will run on Samsung’s popular Galaxy S III smartphone which is also the official smartphone of the Games.

The app can also be used as an in-room phone extension. It will also provide users with localised content. The senior vice president of its Enterprise and Mobile Communications Division Bumcoo Cho said that the hospitality solution was a natural guest experience optimisation. Cho said, “As a hotel visitor, you not only expect to have all the services you need at your fingertips, but you want to be able to take full advantage of them in a way that is effortless, simple, and intuitively smart”. Initially the service will be made available to the VIPs staying at Holiday Inn and see 40 rooms equipped to begin.
