AT&T is now launching a new service for the customers which will help protest their voice or data plan from being used. With this the mobile phone can still be usable even after a theft.

An Internal AT&T memo published on July 6, 2012 that the company on July 10, 2012 will be launching a service which will allow the users to block all the use of a stolen or lost cell phone. The AT&T customer will be able to call the wireless provider and request that the company should block anyone from using the phone for voice and texting including consuming the data. This will prevent anyone from using the device.
