SuperSoftware, which is a Tokyo-based smartphone application developer, announced that after the launch of its free app ‘Manga Camera’, the application has been downloaded two million times. The figure has been achieved just 18 days after the launch of the application.

The app was launched on September 11, 2012 and had become popular among youngsters, especially the younger Japanese iPhone users. The users of the application were thrilled to be able to turn photographs of everyday sights, into images which look like they have been lifted from a comic book.

With the first 24 hours of its release, the application was downloaded about one million times. It has also consistently seen high download rates in China, Korea and its homeland.

According to our sources, the application allows users to add additional graphics, tag lines or onomatopoeic lines, which is an essential part of the Manga, as well as the Japanese language. The Manga Camera allows the users to save the photos in either the iPhone’s photo library or they could be posted to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. For now the application is available only for iPhone users but is not compatible with the iPod Touch or iPad. The application is available for free download on iTunes.
