After several speculations, Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia has officially unveiled its latest handset which focuses on photographic capability, the Lumia 1020. The new Lumia 1020 has been revealed at an event on Thursday, July 11, 2013 in New York and it mainly focuses on photographic capabilities.

The new Lumia 1020 comes with a 41-megapixel camera, xenon flash and a Nokia Pro Camera app. This app allows for advanced tweaking of white balance, exposure, focus, ISOs and the like. However, the question remains whether consumers will actually want to buy such a phone with advanced camera features.

The device comes with an optional camera grip accessory which fits over the handset. It boosts battery life and also has a traditional shutter button and a tripod mount. The Finnish company also said that users can shoot first and zoom later, with a technique which is known as ‘oversampling’. The 41-megapixel camera shoots at such a large size, that no actual pixels are lost when it is cropped or zoomed.

Despite several exciting features, reactions to the new handset have been mixed. BBC highlighted statistics from consultancy service which surveyed smartphone owners to find out what factors mattered to them the most in a handset.
