Samsung Galaxy S III sales still up despite Phone 5 release

Despite the launch of the new, much awaited iPhone5, and the recent legal verdict against Samsung, the companies new device Galaxy S III is still hugely in demand. According to Localytics, sales growth for the S III the week before the iPhone 5 was released was flat, as consumers probably wanted to compare both phones.

Since August 1, 2012 the sales of S III has seen an average weekly growth of 9 percent after which Samsung received a huge setback on the patent battle and the announcement of the iPhone 5. Between August 21 and August 27 the sales of the new S III has jumped to 16 percent. Earlier a court in the US had found Samsung guilty of patent infringement, ordering the South Korean company to pay more than $1 billion in the form of damages.
