Nokia unveils new Asha touchscreen smartphones 308 and 309

Finnish mobile manufacturing giant Nokia has on September 25, 2012 unveiled two of its new models from the Asha Touch series. The company has claimed that they are the most affordable capacitive touch screen devices.

Apart from the phones the company also debuted the Nokia Life + which is a free web application that provides content on education, information, health and entertainment topics on Asha 308 and 309 and other Nokia phones. Later in the year the local versions of the service will be available in India, China and Indonesia.

At present the information service will be available in English in 18 countries including US, UK, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nigeria and Vietnam. The new Nokia Asha 308 and 309 come with a new version of Nokia Xpress Browser while Nokia enables up to 90% more efficient mobile browsing and faster access to rich web applications compared to the conventional browsers.

The retail price of the new Asha 308 and Asha 309 is expected to be $99 excluding taxes and subsidies and will start shipping in the fourth quarter of this year. The new devices are 2G enabled and feature a 3.0 inch Wide QVGA capacitive display, stereo radio, multi home screens ,loud speakers and up to 32 GB micro SD card support.
