Popular messaging app WhatsApp has introduced new support through Google Chrome browser unless the user has an iPhone. The announcement was made by WhatsApp founder Jan Koum on Facebook.
The users now can receive and send messages on their desktop with the help of Chrome Browser. The founder has made it clear that the WhatsApp Web is just an extension of the mobile apps so the user still needs to have their phone nearby so as to take advantage of it.
Koum said, “Today, for the first time, millions of you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser”. This means that all the conversations will still remain in the phone. Users of iPhone are the first ones to get their hands on the new service for now and that the WhatsApp Web will not be available on the iOS due to Apple platform limitations.
The WhatsApp Web can be used best in Android, BlackBerry 10, Blackberry and Windows Phone. The users have to open https://web.whatsapp.com on Google Chrome Browser which will display a QR Code. The QR code has to be scanned inside WhatsApp and the user is ready to go. The launch of the new service has come a day after it banned the users using WhatsApp Plus third party app.
