The owners of the Sony Xperia S smartphone can now rejoice, as Google has launched an experiment by introducing the Vanilla Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the devices. Jean Baptiste Queru, the technical head of Android Open Source Project said that he would like to go one step further and target some hardware beyond the usual categories.
Queru added that it seems like a good target as it is a powerful GSM device with an unlockable bootloader which is from a manufacturer that has always been responsive to AOSP. With this project the new Xperia S will become the first non-Nexus device to be supported under the AOSP and is also an excellent news for the owners.
