LG to launch Optimus Vu smartphone in US

Mobile phone manufacturer, LG has this weekend confirmed that its large Optimus Vu smartphone ‘phablet’ will soon be available in the US market. The company assured that the phablet will be available during the third quarter.

LG in a translated press release said that it has targeted the United States during the third quarter for the Optimus Vu. However, the press release did not reveal about the exact dates and pricing.

The smartphone was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress this year and it features a 5 inch 1024 X 768 pixel screen, 8.5 mm thickness, 1.5 Ghz S4 processor, 8 mega pixel rear camera along with a 1.3 mega pixel shooter on the front.

In terms of memory the device has 26 GB free memory. The Vu will be competing with the Samsung Galaxy Note which is also a combination of a tablet and a smartphone and has a 5.3 inch screen. Samsung is also all set to unveil its next gen Galaxy Note later this month which might have a larger screen with a better resolution. The south Korean giant has also produced the larger version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 which also incorporates with a stylus.
