US-based tech giant Microsoft began rolling out an update for the Surface Pro 2 which is able to fix some of the issues which are caused by an earlier unsuccessful firmware update released in December 2013, only to be nixed before the holidays.
The update is available on the machines which were updated in December 2013. Microsoft in a brief statement said, “This weekend we released an update that addresses the unexpected wake and battery drain behavior experienced by a small number of Surface Pro 2 customers who installed the December Windows Update.” The company went on to say that this should not affect customers who did not receive the December 2013 update.
One publication stated that some users have reported seeing the update even before the company confirmed it. They said that the update fixes some issues which were generated by the previous update, but that there might still be other issues which need to be addressed in the future.
Microsoft also released firmware updates for the first generation of Surface Pro devices which run on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and faced battery life issues related to Type and Touch covers.
