South Korean company Samsung is all set to unveil the new version of its popular Galaxy Note smartphone at an event on August 29, 2012. The event will take place two weeks before the possible debut of Apple’s new iPhone.
A spokesperson from Samsung on August 3, 2012 said, “We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29”. The event will be held two days before the opening of Europe’s biggest consumer electronics trade fair IFA.
According to the South Korean media some reports have speculated that the new Galaxy Note might feature an unbreakable 5.5 inch display, which is slightly larger than the current one. The new Note is also expected to have a faster processor and a better camera.
Samsung once lagged behind in the smartphone market and took over Apple last year and became the world’s largest smartphone maker. The company is also looking to defend its supremacy by refreshing its line up ahead of the launch of the next generation iPhone which is expected to be released in October this year. In May 2012, Samsung launched its Galaxy S III while Apple is planning a major product launch on September 12, 2012.
