Several Google Talk users faced problems using the service on July 26, 2012. For most of the users, the instant messaging service of Google was down for two hours.
The problem is affecting the Google Apps as well as Gmail users through the Google App customers appear to be suffering the most. The first disruption in service was noticed by the search engine giant at 6:40 am on its App Status Dashboard and by 6:50 am the disruption was changed to ‘service outage’.
At 8:50 am the company added a note for its users on its dashboard. The note said, “Our team is continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 9:50 a.m. with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience.”
However, social networking site has always been the platform where the users discussed such problems. The GTalk outage was all over Twitter. An hour later the deadline rolled down and Google said, “We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 1:50 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.” Both the posts were marked in red dot. Nothing more has been mentioned about the Gmail downtime and the service dashboard mentions that the problem is limited to GTalk.
