Sony introduces Project Morpheus for PlayStation 4

Console manufacturing giant Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. introduced ‘Project Morpheus’ – which is a virtual reality gaming system designed for its popular next-gen console PlayStation 4 – on March 18, 2014. The announcement was made at the 2014 Game Developers Conference which was held in San Francisco.

Sony released a press statement which mentioned that Project Morpheus has been designed in order to take the PlayStation 4 system to the next level of immersion and will have the capability to demonstrate the future of gaming. The President of SCE Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida said, “At SCE we view innovation as an opportunity to build on our mission to push the boundaries of play”.

Yoshida went on to say that the system is the latest example of innovation from the company and that they are looking forward to continuing development and the games which will be created once the development kits are in the hands of creators of content. For Sony, the introduction of Project Morpheus is the latest attempt to offer more products for the PlayStation 4 console as it is looking to compete against other consoles in the market.

After the launch of the new Project Morpheus, it will compete with Oculus Rift, which is a virtual reality headset which has been designed to give gamers an immersive experience.
