The popular game Flappy Bird for mobile devices has made its appearance on the Windows Phone website. However, the developer of the game has claimed that Flappy Bird does not have a version for the platform.
The official version of the game is created by the Vietnam-based Dong Nguyen and it is now available for Apple and Android devices only. On the other hand, the publisher of the Widows Phone variant is mentioned as IG Mobile. The game has been downloaded more than 50 million times and was launched back in May 2013.
Since its launch, Flappy Bird has become immensely popular and is promoted almost entirely by social media users. In addition to that, the game has now become the number one free game in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store charts. Dong Nguyen Tweeted on February 7, 2014, “I would like to [say] sorry WP [Windows Phone] users for the late of WP build. I am trying hard to make it happen.”
When Microsoft was informed about the issue, a spokesperson said that the company is investigating this matter. The game reportedly took just two to three days to create, but is now generating $50,000 on a daily basis in advertising revenue. Users of the game have been sharing humorous reviews via Twitter and other social networking sites.
