Meanwhile, the next-gen console itself is due to be released on November 15, 2013 in the US and on November 29, 2013 in Europe. The PlayStation app was announced earlier in 2013 and can be used for various purposes, as it is capable of turning the iOS or the Android device into a game controller.

It can also serve as a second screen for some titles to imitate or expand the action from the console. The application can also be used as a conduit onto Sony’s PlayStation Network and with the help of the PlayStation Network, players can use the application to watch what others are playing, as well as buy games directly to the console.

Through the application, gamers can accept invitations from other people to play together and it can also provide a chat feature, as well as tap into the social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Sony also has another app, which is known as the Official PlayStation App, but it does not have any gaming features scheduled for the upcoming app.
