For the first time in two decades, Internet giant Yahoo will be changing its logo. However, it is still not known what kind of logo the company will be adopting. For the next four weeks, the company will be showcasing 30 different logos every day on its home page and on September 4, 2013, the company will be changing its purple-colored Y! logo.
The company has already decided on the new logo, but it just wants to depict different looks under its new CEO, Marissa Mayer. The change of the logo is the first modification in the 18-year-long history of Yahoo and it will be done in a 30-day marketing campaign. Kathy Savitt, chief marketing officer said, “The logo is your calling card, identity, manifestation. The Yahoo logo is iconic; some people love it, some people hate it”.
In 2012, Mayer took over over the company as CEO and since then, Yahoo bought more than 20 companies, including Rockmelt, Tumblr, as well as updated its existing product line-up, including its home page, email and Flickr. The new CEO has helped the company to reach new heights through acquisitions and a 70% bump in its shares.
However, Yahoo is still facing tough competition from existing giants like Google and Facebook.
