Computer manufacturing giant Microsoft is all set to unveil its next generation Xbox at an event on May 21, 2013. The device was originally scheduled to be launched in the month of April and was later pushed to May.

In an interview, Windows writer Paul Thurrott said that the company had earlier planned to announce the new console on April 24, 2013, but then it was rescheduled for May 21, 2013. Media reports have claimed that the event will be on a small scale and will offer the first details on the next Xbox, which is code-named as Durango.

Microsoft is expected to unveil the console at the E3 event in Los Angeles and the product will hit the shelves next year. Thurrott also dismissed rumours that the next Xbox will require an ‘always-on’ internet connection. A Microsoft Studio creative director said that he was upset over such reports.

There are also chances that Microsoft might have more consoles in store earlier. Thurrott said that the company will be updating the Xbox 360 and sell it for $99. The writer is also predicting an early November release for the next Xbox, which will be just in time to attract the holiday shoppers. With the release of the new console, the gaming wars are just heating up for 2013.
