Telecom giant AT&T and electronics giant Sony has on June 14 announced that Xperia Ion Smartphone all set to be launched on June 24 for $99.99 with contract. The Xperia which comes with a 12 mega pixel camera and 4G LTE, was showcased at the CES trade show in the month of January 2012.
The new trendy and slab like device will be competing against the devices like HTC One X and Samsung’s Galaxy S III in At&T’s line up. Some of the interesting features of the Xperia Ion include 12 mega pixel camera and the ability to be controlled by a TV remote attached by an HDMI cable.
In this way the smartphone can be left next to the TV and the user can sit back and control the interface. The other features of the smartphone include 4.6 inch display and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread , but the company has promised an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.
The connectivity features of the Xperia Ion include Wi-Fi, LTE, HSPA and has a 16 GB internal memory along with a memory card slot. The device has been powered by a 1.5 GHz S 3 processor. The Xperia Ion has been priced at $99.99.
