Xiaomi announced Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite smartphones

Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has announced its Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite smartphones that run on Android One. The new operating system by Google was originally meant for the low-end devices while the Mi A2 smartphones are certainly mid-range and do not provide the Android 8.1 experience. Mi had launched its A1 in 2017 which was based on China-only Mi5X while the Mi A2 has a hardware that is identical to the Mi 6X.

The new Mi A2 which is announced has 7.3 mm thickness and sports a 6 inch 18:9 1080p LCD with a Snapdragon 660 processor. The Mi A2 has 12 and 20 mega pixel dual camera set up. Selfie lovers can rejoice as they will have a 20 mega pixel camera with a flash to get that perfect and flawless selfies. Other features of the device include a USB C and a 3,000 mAh battery. The Mi A2 will be available with up to 128 GB storage and 6 GB of RAM.

The Mi A2 Lite is a smaller version and also cheaper that has a notched 5.84 inches 19.9 1080p LCD screen with a Snapdragon 625 processor. The device has a 12 and 5 mega pixel dual cameras with a 5 mega pixel selfie camera and a 4,000 mAh battery on board with micro USB charging. The Mi A2 Lite has 8.75 thickness and will be available with a maximum storage capacity of 64 GB and 4GB RAM. However for some of the gadget enthusiasts, the Mi A2 Lite might be more attractive regardless of the price tag. The notched display has indicated that it has more usable screen space and has a headphone jack.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 phones will be first launched in Spain after the company expanded its reach to the country in 2017. The A2 will be priced at €249 with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage, €349 for 6 GB and 128 GB storage and €279 for 4 GB and 64 GB storage. On the other hand the Mi A2 Lite will be priced at €179 for 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and €229 for 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.
