Chinese micro blogging site Weibo had an online teaser posted by Xiaomi which hinted that the company is all set to launch its seventh generation of Android OS known as the MIUI. The teaser had a screenshot of the popular Xiaomi phablet Mi Note that showed a calendar with August 4 highlighted.
The time was mentioned as 10 AM along with the number 7. While talking about the screenshot, the only thing that looked different was the battery icon which went from oval to rectangular in shape. Xiaomi has sent out invitations for the MIUI 7 launch event that has been scheduled for August 13, 2015 at the National Convention Centre in Beijing.
The upcoming operating system is likely to be installed in the upcoming smartphones. But the devices will take longer to be released than they were earlier expected. The Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm is not likely to be shipped till December 2015. If this is the case then the next generation flagship devices from Xiaomi might take till March of next year for a commercial launch.
Talking about the next generation Xiaomi flagship devices, the Mi 5 Plus is expected to be one of the first devices to be launched with Qualcomm’s much awaited Snapdragon 820 SoC.
