HTC to launch new One smartphone on March 25, 2014

Mobile phone manufacturing giant HTC has announced the launch of the new version of its HTC One smartphone. The new device from the company is expected to be out on March 25, 2014.

The Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer sent out invitations for two events in New York and London on March 25, 2014, which will be held simultaneously. HTC said in a statement, “It’s about time for the best to get even better! This is HTC’s next big bet product that will be our primary flagship for 2014.”

The invitation did not reveal too many details regarding the new smartphone. Recent rumors suggested that the new HTC One has been codenamed M8 and will have a metal body with a 5-inch 1080p display, 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3 GB of RAM and will run on the latest operating system of Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat. Reports say that the new HTC One might also have a second camera sensor on the back, which is designed to improve focus times, as well as light metering.

The new handset by HTC will be unveiled one day after South Koran giant Samsung is set to debut its new Galaxy S5 handset at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The upcoming handset by HTC is crucial for the company, which has been struggling in recent times in the smartphone segment.
