Software giant Microsoft has announced that it will soon be launching its new music service known as the Xbox Music. The launch of the new music service was announced during an event in advance of the Electronic Entertainment Expo which is due to start in Los Angeles this week.

The announcement was made on June 4, but no additional details were let out. The new Xbox Music will replace Microsoft’s Zune Music service. Reports say that the new service will be similar to that of Spotify.

Reports say that the new service looks better and would give a tough fight to Apple’s iTunes, Pandora and Spotify. The company has said that the service would include, 30 million tracks available on the Xbox and also the Windows 8 devices like the PCs and tablets.

The latest announcement has been made to turn the Xbox video game in to an entertainment hub of the home. The launch of the new service might also indicate the death of the Zune Music service, which will completely abandon the music player. This could also give the music labels another high profile distribution channel. Earlier Zune could not make such an impact, but the Xbox already comes with a large installed base of users.
