Japanese company Sony has announced a new kind of book known as the Wonderbook along with the Harry Potter veteran JK Rowling. The new Wonderbook is a peripheral for the PlayStation 3 games console, a physical book that has 3D augmented reality images and video projected on it with the help of the PlayStation 2’s Eye camera.
The players of the game can interact with the book by just watching the TV screen where the book and their movements are captured by the camera and the real life picture is overlaid with fantasy objects. Wonderbook: Book Of Spells is the original title that is given by JK Rowling for the device which is all set to be launched in the month of November.
The electronic giant has also agreed to partner with Pottermore, which is the official website for Harry Potter which offers an online experience around the Harry Potter Books. The author in a statement said, “Wonderbook: Book of Spells is the closest a Muggle can come to a real spellbook”.
Rowling also said that this is an extraordinary device that offers a reading experience like no other. The Sony Computer Entertainment, Andrew House said that the new book represented is the next revolution in story telling.
