Whatsapp

Whatsapp is one of the most popular instant messaging services. The service has more than a billion active users and supports various operating systems. WhatsApp is a user- friendly platform which helps the users to get in touch with friends and family and also provides facilities to share pictures, videos and files instantly. The company has now  announced a new feature that supports live location sharing. The new feature will be available in iPhone and Android platforms in the upcoming weeks.

The new feature on WhatsApp will help enhance the chatting experience. People who are insecure are being assured that the feature is protected by end-to-end encryption just like the chats and calls have been placed in the app. However, many users might feel that that location sharing is not new on the platform and there are similar features on the alternatives like the Facebook Messenger and iMessage.

There is already a feature on WhatsApp which allows to share the location with friends and family. The new feature will allow the users to track one’s friends in real time. The users will be able to see in the map exactly where their family members are or how long will one have to wait for someone to arrive.

After the new feature is available on WhatsApp, the users will be able to share live location with people in the chat that they select. This means that even the groups are also supported. In this way, the app will allow to keep a track of various individuals at the same time. The users can select to share the location for 1 hour, 8 hours and 15 minutes and have the freedom to stop sharing it when they feel like. The new option can be found in the Location menu in the attach button, where one has to select the Share Live Location option. If it is not found, then one will have to wait for WhatsApp to update in their device.
