Jeremy Hunt the Culture secretary said that Britain could have the best broadband in Europe only if it is future proofed. Hunt in a speech given at a Google backed campus in East London said that he wanted UK to have the fastest broadband in Europe within the next three years.
The culture secretary added that to be the best you need to be the fastest adding that the aim was not to just to be the best overall but, “specifically the fastest broadband of any major European country.” Hunt also said that it is not only essential for the digital economy but is also an advantage for the consumers and for the creative industries.
