OnePlus to unveil first smartphone on April 23, 2014

Smartphone manufacturing company OnePlus – which was launched in December 2013 – is all set to unveil its first smartphone. After many months of teasing, the company has confirmed that its first smartphone will be finally launched on April 23, 2014.

A moderator on the OnePlus forum said, “We’re almost ready to showcase our baby to the world”. The company has been started by Pete Lau, the former Oppo vice president and aims to build the best smartphone in the world. Ever since the company was established, it has been using social networking channels in order to collect comments and opinions, ensuring that the product it unveils is close to what the firm’s future users want.

The new phone by OnePlus is expected to have a 5.5-inch touchscreen made by Japan Display and the overall dimensions of the phone will remain compact. OnePlus has also published a picture of the phone under a 5-inch Sony Xperia Z1, which is obscured by the OnePlus One. The screen will have a resolution of 1080p.

So far, it is not known how much the device will cost or when it will go on sale. Everything will be revealed during launch on April 23, 2014.
