Online shopping giants Amazon and Barnes & Noble are set to cut prices of their Kindle Fire HD and Nook e-reader tablets respectively. The prices of the device will be brought down as the much awaited holiday season is approaching.

On December 10, 2012, Amazon slashed the prices of its 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD by $50, while Barnes & Noble permanently slashed the prices of the Nook Simple Touch to $79. So now, customers can pick up the 16 GB version of the Kindle Fire HD for $250, or the 32 GB Wi-Fi + 4G for $450. However, the online shopping giant has put its own conditions and has limited the deal on one purchase per customer and customers have to use the code FIRE HD 89 at checkout to avail of the savings offer.
