Finnish communications and information technology giant Nokia has removed its Here Maps application from Apple’s iTunes Store and has blamed the company’s iOS 7 operating system for it. Nokia – whose handset division will be owned by Microsoft in the near future – is claiming that updates which have been introduced in Apple’s iOS 7 are harming Here Maps’ user experience.

If users try searching for ‘Nokia Here Maps’ on iTunes, the official app by Nokia will not be find in the results. Regarding this issue, a spokesperson for Nokia said in a statement, “We have made the decision to remove our Here Maps app from the Apple App Store because recent changes to iOS 7 harm the user experience. iPhone users can continue to use the mobile web version of Here Maps under m.here.com, offering them core location needs, such as search, routing, orientation, transit information and more, all completely free of charge.”

Moreover, the Finnish phone company did not reveal which changes in Apple’s iOS 7 caused the application to run so badly. As the company’s Here Maps is not available on Android, users can access it only on Windows Phone and Nokia handsets for the time being.

People who used Here Maps on their iPhones complained that when they tried zooming in and out, the app would simply freeze, or it would zoom in as close as possible and then zoom out to the extreme.
